Ballingarrys interest in the National cup ended in Clare when they went out 4-2 on penalties. Trailing 2-0 at the break Ballingarry got themselves right back in the game when Denis Kelly scored for the third successive game. Ballingarry rode their luck somewhat as they went in search of a second and their efforts were justly rewarded in the final minute of the game when Kevin Forde made the most of a hurried clearance from the home keeper to score from almost the halfway line for a spectacular goal.
Both teams were evenly matched throughout with both having chances to win but it was Shannon Town that eventually went through on penalties.
